2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following personal data when you use The Math Maker:
- Account data: your email address, name, and encrypted password when you register.
- Child profile data: first name and school year group for any child profiles you create. We do not collect dates of birth or any other identifying information about children.
- Usage data: worksheets you generate and save, topic progress ratings, and difficulty feedback you submit.
- Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We never store card numbers or payment details on our servers. We receive only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
- Technical data: browser type, device type, and IP address via standard web server logs.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve The Math Maker service
- Personalise worksheet generation based on a child's progress
- Process subscription payments via Stripe
- Send transactional emails (account verification, trial reminders) via Resend
- Respond to support requests
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Children's Data
The Math Maker is a tool for parents and educators. We collect minimal data about children — only a first name and school year group within child profiles. This data is associated with the parent's account and is not shared with any third parties.
We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
We process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract: processing necessary to provide the service you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: improving the service, preventing fraud, and ensuring security.
- Consent: sending optional marketing communications (you can opt out at any time).
6. Data Sharing
We share data only with the following trusted third-party service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Stripe — payment processing (Stripe Privacy Policy)
- Supabase — database hosting (Supabase Privacy Policy)
- Resend — transactional email delivery (Resend Privacy Policy)
All providers are contractually bound to handle your data securely and in accordance with UK GDPR.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and associated data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data — including child profiles, topic progress, and saved worksheets — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
Payment records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and tax compliance purposes.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data (right to be forgotten)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured format

To exercise any of these rights, please email hello@denellapublishing.com. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
9. Cookies
We use only essential cookies necessary to keep you logged in (session cookies via NextAuth). We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.
10. Security
We take security seriously. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Our database is hosted on Supabase with access controls and encryption at rest.
